Network Device Logical Label Display Lengths

A quick listing of the logical label lengths (displayed at the CLI) available with differing network devices, for various types of object such as interface or VLAN descriptions, using different commands. The maximum listed below is the number of characters displayed in the output of a particular command without abbreviation or reduction or being shortened.
Note: These lengths are display limits, not limits on the label descriptions that can be configured.

ifconfig command output: 9 characters for any type of interface
ip link command output: 255 characters, non wrapping display limited by width of terminal

Router
show interface description command output: 255 characters, non wrapping display limited by width of terminal
Switch
show interface status command output: 18 characters
show interface description command output: 255 characters for physical and sub interfaces, non wrapping display limited by width of terminal
show vlan command output: 32 characters - Note Cisco recommend 20 characters or less for VLAN names for some reason
Extreme Switch
show port info command output: 13 characters; more can be displayed but this will disturb column alignment
show vlan command output: 18 characters
