Packet Capture & Analysis

Image:Wireshark-small.png Wireshark is a very capable, mature and popular GUI based packet capture and analysis tool available for most platforms including Windows.

Most Linux distributions (and network devices utilising Linux) have the extremely useful command line packet capture tool tcpdump installed.

The similar ssldump tool allows for the capture and decryption of SSL/TLS packets and data.

Core FTP have free Windows FTP server software available for download here: http://www.coreftp.com/server/. You'll find a local copy here: ftpserver.zip - 1.8Mb

For a Windows FTP server that runs as a single executable (albeit with an additional .ini file) smallftpd is available from here: http://smallftpd.sourceforge.net/. You'll find a local copy here: smallftpd-1.0.3-fix.zip - 65Kb

Core FTP also have Windows SFTP server software that runs as a single executable available at the same location - very useful! You'll find a local copy here: msftpsrvr.zip - <0.5Mb
